Maria S. Hossain

Attorney Maria Hossain specializes in the legal needs of business owners, offering nine years of experience in employment law. While in law school, Ms. Hossain served as an Executive Editor on the Business Review Journal and as an Article & Notes Editor on the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law. Ms. Hossain also received multiple awards for client counseling, and was top of her class in: Negotiation, Mediation and Law & Social Science. She also contributed to the Spanish translation of the Constitution of the State of Florida.

After practicing in private civil litigation, serving as a county court mediator and clerking for an appellate judge on the First District Court of Appeal, Ms. Hossain has represented the State of Florida in labor and employment matters for the past 9 years. Ms. Hossain specializes in identifying potential legal issues for employers, defending employers against discrimination and retaliation claims, and representing employers in court and in arbitration and mediation.

With her extensive background in practicing employment law for an organization of approximately 25,000 employees, Ms. Hossain has vast experience in the variety of legal problems that may arise when running a business. Ms. Hossain has worked closely with Human Resources and management to draft procedures and address individual incidents to prevent legal issues or to resolve them expeditiously should they arise. Additionally, Ms. Hossain understands that operating a business does not mean that legal concerns stop at 5pm, and is prepared to be available after hours or on weekends.

An avid equestrian, Ms. Hossain currently lives on a farm in Tallahassee, Florida. Ms. Hossain enjoys international travel, exploring various cuisines at Michelin Star restaurants and hole-in-the-wall hidden establishments, as well as cooking at home with her family. Ms. Hossain’s love of food and prior career of over 16 years working at Disney World inspired her passion of helping restaurant owners create excellent customer service experiences and beautifully plated, delicious food. Ms. Hossain is a sommelier with her WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. In her spare time, Ms. Hossain owns her own businesses as a restaurant consultant and as a user generated content (UGC) creator.
